I am a sixth grade social studies & language arts teacher at Northview Middle School.  I have taught school for the past 30 years throughout North Carolina.  I have earned my B.S. degree and M.A.Ed from Western Carolina University.  I enjoy working with middle school students because they bring such a refreshing perspective into my social studies class.  I express to my students the importance of becoming life-long learners, to question and inquire, and to enhance their learning abilities outside the formal school environment.   Education should be more than just learning about a concept.  It should equally stress how the concept connects to everyday life experiences.  As an educator, I must carefully develop young student minds into "future ready" citizens that obtain the life skills necessary to function in society.
